Fleetwood had been run ragged in the closing stages and when substitute Josh Sheehan punched one last hole in their defence he squared the perfect pass for Afolayan to coolly steer the ball inside the near post and spark wild celebrations between players, fans and staff in what could prove a significant moment in the season.
Dion Charles lifted an effort over after Beck had driven the ball in and both Charles and Beck then mis-cued in front of goal after former Fleetwood loanee Gethin Jones and Bradley had opened up the Town defence. Beck was getting himself into some fantastic positions and with Wanderers increasingly on top then saw a shot saved by Lynch after being picked out by fellow Liverpool loanee Bradley. The Whites’ fans behind the goal did their best to coax the ball in as a superb run and cross from Afolayan somehow failed to end with a decisive touch from a man in blue inside the six-yard box.
But despite dominating possession, Wanderers almost went two down with 20 minutes to go when Rooney’s angled drive hit the foot of the post and bounced clear. That would have been harsh on the Whites who had done virtually all of the attacking. And their pressure finally paid with five minutes to go as Bradley deservedly levelled. Kieran Sadlier had made a big impact following his introduction and after getting in behind the home defence he drove the ball across to find Bradley to side-foot home a huge goal. A point would have been the least Wanderers deserved and deep into stoppage time they turned it into three to secure a huge result.
Fleetwood Town vs Bolton Wanderers on 19 Nov 22 - Match CentreWanderers produced a thrilling finish with late goals from Conor Bradley and Dapo Afolayan propelling the never-say-die Whites back into the top six. Bradley pounced five minutes from the end of normal time with his fourth goal of the season finally cancelling out an early opener from Carlos Mendes Gomes. And then five minutes into added time, Afolayan rammed home a memorable winner to move onto the same tally for the campaign in front of a packed away end which erupted with joy. Ian Evatt’s men had been camped in front of the goal for much of a one-sided second half as they never gave up hope of turning a slick performance into maximum points. And they got a fitting reward in dramatic style as a third away win of the season - and another comeback success after similar fightbacks in their previoys two victoires - prevented Fleetwood from somehow hanging onto an 11th draw of the campaign to give Evatt a truly happy 41st birthday.
